About all the others have lost at least a bit of their edge. Guardian seemingly haven't! However, I disliked A Twist in the Myth. (Disliked, as in in Blind Guardian's scale.) But, I didn't like Follow the Blind that much, either, and it was but their second album. :) -- Don't hurry, but give us the best album again pl0x! :P And/or the orchestral live DVD. But please, take your time to ensure the quality! :)

I agree with Believe. At the Edge of time is their second best album IMO, 'tis almost perfect. A sincerely enjoyed A Twist in the Myth too. Speaking of, HURRY AND GIVE US A NEW ALBUM PL0X!

This is actually one of the only power metal band that I wouldn't say that about. At the Edge of Time stands up well against their other albums.

One of my favorite power metal bands. I'm not near as knowledgeable about Power metal as I am about other genres (thrash, black metal, various sorts of death metal) so I'm not in a position to debate who influenced who (other than the profoundly obvious Iron Maiden and Judas Priest influence on nearly every power metal band) or what exactly quantifies power metal.

Well, it would be foolish to argue with the fact that power\speed is an integral part of the style of the group. But I believe that BG is not limited to these styles. They are much more VARIOUS than any average power group.

well, the choir-queenish folk-orientation is right, but also affected power metal a lot (even if blind guardian weren't the first and only band to use this). the leads itself were pure inspiration to other bands, heard that style of lead-playing a thousand times in other bands/songs, even if bg are the unchallengeable masters of that style in my eyes.

jandalf_, rhythm guitar, riffs and two bass drums - it only external signs ( I would, for example, called the characteristic features of the group - choir and lead-guitar a la "Queen" and orientation to folk, rather than riffs and rhythm guitar).
And do not forget that"Crime and Punishment" to external signs too only a detective;-)
